Sex And The City is coming back for another TV series!

It’s been a good and bad week for fans of some of the girliest films and TV shows around. There’s going to be a Dirty Dancing remake (don’t mess with perfection, we say), while production company Working Title have confirmed they are making a third Bridget Jones movie (mmmm, Mark Darcy).

Now we’re hearing rumours that Sex And The City is coming back, but not for a third movie – there’s going to be another series on TV.

“Ultimately Darren Star – the man who created the hit series – will have the overall say, but everyone is agreed a TV show is the direction they want to take the franchise in,” a blabbermouth told The Mail.

“Sarah Jessica Parker will be producing. She was worried about doing another film after the bad reaction to the SATC2 movie, but a TV show is definitely something she wants to happen.”

It was thought that work was well underway ona third film in the SATC franchise, focusing on the early lives of Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda. There was evengossip that Blake Lively and Emma Roberts were attached to the project. But, says the source, “they want to make the TV series.”

We’re not clear if the original SATC gang – that’s Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Catrall, Kristina Davis and Cynthia Nixon – will return for the new series, or if the new show will focus on the girls when they first arrived in New York. We like the idea of seeing the old gang back again, but we also like the idea of a new generation bringing our favourite Manhattan ladies back to the small screen – what do YOU like the idea of….?
